Spiritual teachings are imparted in many ways. Life offers us experiences and we are able to evolve through her challenges and support.
It is our awareness and clarity that allows our lessons to be assimilated, understood and carried to the next step. Life, in a way, is our best teacher, always promoting us to expand and to become part of her.
For the seeker, the experiences of life take another level. The experiences most likely will direct the seeker to go within to find one’s true nature. It is through the willingness of the seeker to be free and to go within that allows life to offer the most specific circumstances for the seeker to grow.
It is at this time that the spiritual teacher may appear. The spiritual teachings complement life’s lessons and serve as a platform for the seeker to go within to inquire about one’s true nature. The seeker may expect a certain style from the teacher that pleases the seeker’s abilities and spiritual concepts. However, what the seeker may not see is that the spiritual teacher imparts spiritual teachings in a concrete way (satsangs and exposition of spiritual dynamics) and in a subtle way (“transmission and absorption”). Either way, it will challenge the seeker’s personal limitations and preferences.
In the presence of the spiritual teacher the mind of the seeker gets calm and quiet. All questions coming from the mind somehow dissolve. The seeker must be aware of this opportunity and not to force one’s own agenda. In this way the seeker is ready to receive, to take in or to be drawn into the real gem that the spiritual teacher offers: the transmission of pure consciousness. This transmission is embedded in the voice and presence of the teacher and is sustained through time.
This silent agreement and this sacred relationship allow the seeker to enter into the play in which his/her life experiences are part of lucid growth and evolution. The seeker must realize that self-realization can happen spontaneously to some, but most likely is a process that must be welcomed with patience and commitment.
Slowly, slowly, the real transmutation of the seeker happens with the constant imparting of the teacher’s frequency. It is important for the seeker to define and stay with the same frequency. The selection and stability of spiritual teachings and spiritual teacher is a must for an everlasting transformation. The proximity to the teacher and the one-pointed mind of the seeker to stay with one frequency are powerful subtle ways to receive spiritual teachings. If the seeker jumps from one teacher to another trying to please one’s own taste, the subtle spiritual teachings do not have a chance. On the contrary: the aura of the seeker gets confused and restless; it doesn’t know where it belongs and who to surrender to.
Trusting the subtle helps the seeker to relate to the delicate aspects of consciousness. Stay still, in that ocean represented by the realized teacher and bathe there and invite all parts of yourself to be carried all the way.
